How to update an existing document using fax

Description

You can print, fax, or e-mail a fax coversheet from the relay® Documents tab. If you wish to create a new document using fax, please read Knowledge Base Article KBA-01348.

Solution

Follow the steps below:


There are three ways to update a document using fax, depending on the tools available to you and the way your fax was delivered.


1. Secure, Direct Fax:
relay® will automatically update the document when you send the fax using the relay® generated coversheet and the toll-free fax number.

Step 1:
Open the transaction that you wish to update a document using fax with, then click on the Documents tab:




Step 2:
Click on the Detail button:




Step 3:
Click on the Fax Cover Sheet button:



Please Note: Separate documents need separate coversheets, or they will all be filed under the same document name.


Step 4:
Fill out any Comments you may have, and then fill out the Sender Information and click on the Save button:




Step 5:
Click on the Send button to send the fax.
If you wish to export the Cover Sheet to a PDF file, click on the Print/View button:



2. Use your own electronic fax solution:
If you already receive faxes on your computer, you can simply save the fax to your computer and then upload it directly into relay®.

Step 1:
Open the transaction that contains the document you wish to fax, then click on the Documents tab:




Step 2:
Click on the Detail button:




Step 3:
Click on the New Version button:




Step 4:
Click on the Browse button and look for the file you wish to attach, enter a description, comment, or anything else you wish to add. And then click on the Save button:




3. Uploading a paper fax:
If you receive a paper fax, you can scan the document and then upload it directly into relay®.

Step 1:
Open the transaction that you wish to upload the scanned document into, then click on the Documents tab:




Step 2:
Click on the Detail button:




Step 3:
Click on the New Version button:




Step 4:
Click on the Browse button and look for the document you wish to attach, enter a description, comment, or anything else you wish to add. And then click on the Save button:



You may also use one of the solutions listed above to create an electronic version of the fax.
