Solution 1:
If you are using Mac OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), Java has intermittent issues when using Safari 5.1. zipForm® 6 Professional requires Java in order to function, and therefore it is affected by this bug. Apple is aware of this issue (see here) but we are uncertain of when they will fix it.
At this time, we are suggesting for users that experience this behavior in Safari to try a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox. Firefox can be downloaded here.
If you are not sure what version of OSX you are using, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Click the Apple icon in the upper left of your screen, then click About This Mac.
Step 2:
The version of OSX is displayed right above the Software Update button..
Solution 2:
Check for Updates on the Mac. Sometimes there could be possible operating system updates, Java updates, or browser updates available that may need to be installed in order for zipForm® 6 to function properly. To check for updates, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Click the Apple icon in the upper left of your screen, then click on Software Update.
Step 2:
Software Update will check for updates available for your computer. This could take up to a full minute.
Step 3:
A list of available updates will appear. We recommend that you update any Mac OSX System Updates, Java updates, and Safari updates. If it says that there are no updates available, then you can move on to the next Solution.
Solution 3:
Clear the Java Cache. Java Cache refers to temporary files that are downloaded and stored on your system for the purpose of speeding up the loading process. Java may download zipForm related files to your system so that the next time that you open the program, instead of downloading those same files again, it will reference the already downloaded files in the Java Cache. However, if any of the files in the Java Cache are damaged or incomplete, it can cause loading issues. To clear the Java Cache, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Click on the Go drop down menu in Finder, then click on Utilities.
Step 2:
Look for the Java Preferences icon and double click on it.
Step 3:
When the Java Preferences window opens, click the Network tab, and then click on the Delete Files button.
Step 4:
Ensure that both check boxes are checked and then click the OK button.
Solution 4:
If you have the MacKeeper anti-virus, disable Real-time Protection. MacKeeper is an anti-virus software available for the Mac operating system that we’ve seen cause issues when trying to load zipForm® 6 Professional. MacKeeper’s Real-time Protection feature allows the program to constantly scan files on the computer as well as any files coming from the active internet connection. When zipForm® 6 tries to load, MacKeeper prevents it from opening properly. To disable MacKeeper's Real-time Protection, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Click on the MacKeeper icon in the upper right corner of the screen and click on Real-time Protection (if it’s checked). If you want to continue to use MacKeeper, we recommend turning it back on after you are finished using zipForm® 6 Professional.
